Basic Bread Dough Ingredients List #1 - makes about two dozen medium-sized rolls and with the egg wash there will be a golden crust. For loaves, allow dough to rise an additional half hour to hour and a half, depending on your altitude and climate. 

1.5 to 2.25 tsp fact-acting yeast    

2 tsp sugar or .75 T of honey     

1/3 cup sugar or 1/4 cup honey 

1 tsp salt  

4.5 to 5 cups bread flour  

.25 cup warm water

1 cup milk

.75 cup butter 

1 egg beaten

Dissolve yeast in warm water with smallest amount of sugar or dissolve in warm milk with sugar. Honey will reduce amount of wet ingredients required. Slowly add flour one cup at a time, after first cup of the addition include salt, sugar butter, egg. Continue adding flour by the cup or half cup until a shaggy dough is formed. Allow to double at least 2 hours or more depending on your altitude and climate. Grease loaf pans, muffin tins, or bakers pans with 2 inch walls, Form loaves, clover leaf buns, or rolls using flour to either massage the loaf or develop the smaller shapes. Brush with egg or milk wash if you choose. Allow to rise another 2 or 3 hours. Bake in an oven pre-heated to 410 to 430 degrees and bake for half hour watching with oven light at the 22 minute mark. 

This can also be an overnight dough recipe, kneading/shaping, and baking as described above.
